The WSO is proud to welcome returning guest artist Tony Ross, Principal Cellist from the Minnesota Orchestra! His performance of Lalo’s Violoncello Concerto in D minor is paired with two French ballet suites. Chaminade was a famous female composer who enjoyed considerable success between 1880 and 1910, during which her Callirhoë Suite had over 200 performances in Europe. Delibes’ Sylvia Suite, which Tchaikovsky touted as, “The first ballet where the music constitutes not only the main, but the only interest,” rounds out the concert with an exciting finale.
